We’re back for our second program at People’s Cinema Club this October! Join us on Tuesday, October 13th as we celebrate El Spooky with a shorts block full of thrills.
What is People’s Cinema Club?
People’s Cinema Club is a weekly film series curated by Philadelphia's independent film community. Powered by BlackStar at the Village of Industry and Art, the cinema club hosts intimate screenings for local audiences right in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. People’s Cinema Club is a collaboration between BlackStar Projects, cinéSPEAK, Philadelphia Asian American Film Foundation, and Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival. Catch a new movie every Tuesday at 6:30 PM, curated by some of your favorite organizations at the helm of film culture in Philadelphia.
Join us for classics, Philadelphia premieres, local films, and deep cuts right in the center of the city. Hosted in the screening room at the newly repurposed Village of Industry and Art, with free and accessible admission for all, People’s Cinema Club brings the magic of cinema to the Avenue of the Arts.

When Constance moves into a suspiciously cheap apartment occupied by Hailey, a woman hanging on by a thread, she doesn’t suspect the truth behind its low price. Hailey has to break it to Constance that fighting is the only way they’ll get out alive and the women team up to make their last stand in a bloody gore-filled battle to the death.
HAND

Following an abrupt breakup with her long-term boyfriend Justin, Amber finds a splinter buried in her hand. The wound soon becomes infected and swollen, evolving into Hand—a persistent and painful presence that grows increasingly grotesque. Deciding to ignore it, Amber fixates on the stains Justin left on the carpet over the course of their relationship. As her obsession intensifies, so does the seriousness of her infection.
