Join us for the Rail Park Block Party on Saturday, September 19th! We’ll be along the 1100 block of Callowhill Street with other artists, organizations, and vendors from across the neighborhood and city! Bring the whole family for a celebration of community at the Rail Park!
What is the Rail Park?
The Rail Park is a vision for a three-mile linear park and multi-use pathway connecting 10 neighborhoods in Philadelphia along historic rail infrastructure.
Phase One—a ¼ mile elevated section located at the intersection of the Callowhill and Chinatown neighborhoods—opened in 2018 and serves as a vibrant community space featuring over 1,000 native plants, public art installations, and year-round, community-led programming centered on wellness, culture, and the arts.
Now welcoming more than 15,000 visitors annually, the park is entering its next chapter with Phase II: The Cut. This below-grade section of the rail corridor will transform a dramatic trench into a new public space connecting Fairmount, Francisville, and Spring Garden. Future phases will continue to reimagine the historic rail line—extending west toward the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Fairmount Park, and northward into East Poplar—creating a continuous, inclusive, and accessible green space for all Philadelphians. Friends of the Rail Park leads the vision, advocacy, and community engagement that make this transformative project possible.
What is the Rail Park Block Party?
The 2026 Block Party at the Rail Park celebrates the robust community that borders the current and future Rail Park.
During this annual event, the Rail Park hosts family-friendly activities, a beer garden, local food vendors, culturally diverse performances, neighborhood businesses, and community organizations. With over 45 participating partners (including PHLAFF!) and vendors, there are a range of opportunities to dance, stretch, meet reptiles, bead, and more.
