PHLAFF Week Uno 5/31 Closing Night!

Saturday is here, and PHLAFF 2025 is pulling out all the stops. Join us for a jam-packed day of films, community, and conversation at Fleisher Art Memorial, where Latinx and Latin American voices take center stage.

With screenings from morning to night, Saturday’s programming offers a vivid tapestry of stories that celebrate resilience, center women, and explore the bonds that define us — from childhood to old age.

These films take on grief, growth, and spiritual endurance with poetic force:

  • When There Are No Words – A quiet, visual meditation on mourning and healing.

FEATURE FILMS TO CLOSE THE DAY

Prodigal Daughter (90 mins)

A moving story of return, reckoning, and female identity across borders and generations. Prodigal Daughter gives voice to those who leave and those who stay — and the ties that never quite break.

Boca Chica (98 mins)
4:00 PM
Set in the Dominican Republic, this coming-of-age drama follows a teenage girl dreaming of musical stardom as she navigates the complexities of family, love, and ambition in a patriarchal society. Richly told, with a standout lead performance.

Bella (100 mins)
7:00 PM – PHLAFF Week Uno Closing Night Film
We close Week Uno with Bella, a stirring exploration of identity, migration, and the quiet dignity of working-class life. After a full week of powerful films, this is the one that asks us to sit with stillness — and listen.
