About the Filmmaker

Tales Ordakji is a Brazilian director, screenwriter, and producer based in Santos, São Paulo. Co-founder of the independent production company Atado no Ato, he has directed and produced more than 10 short films recognized at international festivals, establishing himself as one of the leading voices of independent cinema in the Baixada Santista region. He currently serves as coordinator of MABS – Movimento Audiovisual da Baixada Santista.
His career gained early international visibility when he was cast in a lead role in Alexandre Moratto's feature film Sócrates (2018), which traveled the global festival circuit and won at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. In 2020, he received the Someone to Watch award at Portugal's CinEuphoria Awards.
As a filmmaker, Ordakji is known for his deeply authorial approach: in his most celebrated work, the short film New Service (Novo Atendimento, 2025), he simultaneously served as writer, director, lead actor, editor, and executive producer. The film, inspired by real events from his own life, won Best Short Film and Best Direction at the Oklahoma Latin American Film Festival (USA, 2025) — the only Brazilian production in competition. In 2024, he was part of the ensemble cast of The Business Women's Club, directed by Anna Muylaert, which received a Special Jury Award at the 52nd Gramado Film Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals in Brazil.
