Extraña
About the Film
Extraña follows a young woman, Sapphire Lechuga, who finds comfort and control in the precision and privacy of her daily routines. This balance is suddenly disrupted by a barking dog next door, whose constant noise fractures her focus and throws her routines into disarray. Sapphire sets out to quiet the dog, but the more she tries to restore order, the more chaotic her world becomes.

About the Filmmaker
Ryan Fajet is a Cuban-American writer and director from Miami, Florida. While earning his J.D. from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Ryan spent his nights and weekends taking film courses at local Phoenix community colleges. There, screenwriting professors recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue film more fully.
While earning a master’s degree in both Directing and Cinematography at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television, Ryan was the recipient of multiple grants, including the Motion Picture Association (MPA) Award and the Panavision New Filmmakers Grant. The first short film he directed, Extraña, is currently slated to premiere this summer at the TCL Chinese Theater for Dances With Films. His first feature, which he co-wrote and photographed, was funded in part by Amazon Studios and is currently in post-production.
