About the Filmmaker
Richie Cerda is a multifaceted actor, writer, and director from Queens, New York, whose work has been shaped by classical training and a strong Dominican heritage. He has been building a bold body of work in film and theater since 2006.
Richie studied acting in Florida under Golden Globe-winning actor Burt Reynolds, who served as his acting teacher and mentor. He also collaborated multiple times with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz, performing in Cruz’s play Tsunami, an experience that deeply informed his approach to language-driven storytelling.
A career highlight includes his award-winning portrayal of Tennessee Williams in the short film The Lost Interview, which earned Best Actor at the Nevada Film Festival. His film credits include Sandbox Memories, The Wedding Party, and the feature film New York State of Mind, released on Amazon.
Most recently, Richie directed Brotherhood, featuring UFC legends Din Thomas, Yves Edwards, and Rashad Evans. The film has been selected for the BAFTA-qualifying British Urban Film Festival, with its UK premiere scheduled for October.
